How Are Filled Rice Stick Manufactured?

Filled Rice Stick are popular leisure foods mainly made from grain raw materials with various fillings, manufactured by extrusion technology. Featuring crispy outer shells and soft creamy centers, they deliver a rich multi-layer texture and enjoy strong market demand.

Primary grain raw materials include rice, corn, wheat, brown rice and so on. Common fillings cover chocolate, peanut butter, egg yolk paste, matcha, purple sweet potato cream and more.

Most consumers have tasted sandwich rice snacks, yet few understand how they are produced. Below we introduce the manufacturing workflow and production line equipment.

Process Flow of Filled Rice Stick Production

Raw Material Preparation → Extrusion & Forming → Drying → Seasoning → Packaging

Equipment List for Filled Rice Stick Production Line

1. Mill: Raw material processing. Grind bulk grain raw materials into fine flour with specified particle size.
2. Powder Mixer: Raw material processing. Blend ground flour, auxiliary ingredients and water in set proportions to achieve homogeneous mixing.
3. Feeding Elevator: Raw material processing. Convey the well-mixed powder into the twin-screw extruder.
4. Twin-Screw Extruder: Extrusion and forming. Inside the sealed barrel under high temperature, high pressure and intense shear, raw flour is fully cooked into hot melt. When extruded through die orifices and released to ambient pressure, the material expands into continuous long hollow sticks. The outer profile can be square, round or triangular simply by changing the die.
5. Filling Injector: Extrusion and forming. Heat and blend the core filling, then inject the paste into the hollow extruded stick through the injection port of the twin-screw extruder.
6. Cutter: Extrusion and forming. Cut the long filled extruded sticks into finished segments with adjustable length.
7. Bucket Elevator: Drying section. Transport cut extruded preforms to the dryer.
8. Dryer: Drying section. Reduce the moisture content of preforms to target levels to extend shelf life and optimize texture.
9. Bucket Elevator: Seasoning section. Deliver dried snacks to the seasoning drum.
10. Double-Drum Seasoner: Seasoning section. Spray oil and coat seasoning powder on snack surfaces to create diverse flavors such as scallion, tomato, cheese, sea salt, etc.
11. Packaging Machine: Package seasoned final products.
